The Chemo Teach Session and our book cover looks great
Another early start to the day because I had to go the Abbotsford Cancer Centre for a chemo teach session that started at 9.15am. I was feeling very upbeat and optimistic when I went into the room for the session. There was a lot of good information provided but I found it to be presented in a negative way. There is a limit to how many times you can hear about mouth sores, fatigue, nausea, infection risks etc etc before it starts to eat away at your good mood. By the time it was over I was feeling a bit down. I phoned Graham and before long he had me laughing. I told him that the family support worker had talked about a check list that we would be asked to complete to assess our emotional health and one of the questions was, “Have you ever had thoughts of taking your own life.” I know this is a serious issue but I laughed out loud when he said you should write “Not until I went to the chemo teach session!” The positive part of the session was the opportunity to register for a “Look Good, Feel Good session” where I can learn how to apply eye make up when I have no eyebrows or lashes.
At 5.30pm Glenda, Michelle and I went to the home of our book designer to look at some drafts. By the time we left we had our book cover planned and we were elated.
