The phone call no one wants to get.
I just had a phone call from my oncologist to confirm that the cancer has spread to my liver. I know I should be in a panic and thinking thoughts of death but I have calmness about me. Yesterday I read an article in the newspaper about a man who had just died at age 80 years. The thing about this that caught my attention was that he had been told by his doctors 30 years ago that his colon cancer would kill him within 6 months. He went on to live well for 24 years until 6 years ago when he developed liver cancer. He was treated and was well until recently when a shadow appeared on his liver. He had a liver biopsy that caused an infection which killed him. So 30 years after being told his cancer would kill him, he died not of cancer but of complications from medical intervention.
This gives me hope and reinforces my belief that I don’t have to die because the doctors say I will. I am ready for the next treatment that is chemotherapy and have faith it will work and give me a long remission. I am going to see Glenda today for reflexology and we are meeting Bonnie for lunch.
It is a beautiful sunny day and I choose to smile because I feel well and very excited about our book.
